Ringing Bells has finally closed the Registrations for Freedom 251 dubbed as World’s Cheapest smartphone.
The company has announced that it has received over 6 Crore (60 million) registrations in just two days of opening pre-orders.

Ashok Chada, President at Ringing Bells told IANS
“The Pre-booking numbers we received are sheer humongous. I am happy that so many Indians have responded to our “Make in India’ smartphone call. Now the onus is on us to deliver on the promise and I am hopeful that we will be able to start delivery latest by April 10 and finish well before the June 30 deadline.’’

The company created a lot of buzz around India about the pricing of this handset and its Scam, as we have reported yesterday. BJP MP Kirit Somaiya even called it as a Scam.

Now the company has answered some question what India is asking about this  handset like,
1. How Ringing Bells is selling a smartphone worth Rs. 2700 at a price of just Rs. 251?
The company is planning to recover the remaining amount through reduction in duties, innovative marketing, selling the handset online and more.

2. How is Indian government partnering with a company with no proven track record ?
The Indian Government is not partnering with the company (Ringing Bells Pvt. Ltd).

3. Why has Freedom 251 got Adcom branding on the front panel? Is it being manufactured by Adcom? And why was the branding covered by a whitener? How did the company fringe into other company products for that?
We just wanted to show a sample/prototype of what the handset will look like. This is not the final piece. Hence we obviously wanted to provide “Made in India” handsets as that is the core of our vision.
We did a quick and intensive search and located the components but re the Touch Plate, we faced a problem in view of the fragile nature in addition to the scratch-proof requirements of the piece.
ADCOM is an Indian Company and we were able to source from them. You may speak to Mr. Sanjiv Bhatia – the Director of ADCOM and he would confirm the true version to you.

4. The phone is not listed on the BIS certification page, why is this?
Application is under filling and we expect to have the Certification in hand well before delivery commences.

Ringing Bells, an Indian smartphone manufacturer based in Noida launched the Freedom 251, which is being called the World’s cheapest smartphone is being offered by the company at dirt-cheap price of Rs. 251. The booking started yesterday and as per the company, the website received 6 Lac hits per second.

Everyone is right now ignited with the news of Freedom 251 and its price, as many peoples are attempting to book the smartphone. We tried to analyze the truth logic behind Freedom 251 and try to know whether it is a scam or the company is right and not making all the peoples fool!
At the launch event the sample unit of Freedom 251 was reviewed by Hindustan Times, and they Found that it’s a rebranded unit of Adcom Ikon 4 that was launched 2 years Ago by Adcom, a Delhi based gadgets and electronic products importer. The Adcom logo was hidden by a whitener, No genuine company shall do that…

Even according to Indian Cellular Association (ICA)  no company can sell such a smartphone below Rs. 2700, even after all discount factors. “For your kind information, the bill of material value for a product like this when sourced from the cheapest supply chain costs approximately Rs. 2700 (40 $)”, said ICA President.

Let's take a look at the specs of this smartphone, it has a 4-inch display, powered by a 1.3GHz quad core MediaTek processor and 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage; if you will only buy a touch display for such a smartphone  it will cost more than 251 Ruppes, So it is clear that the individual cost of each component will be far more than Rs. 251. Now the company itself is not officially approved  by Indian Government, the company is not listed under Bureau of Indian standards (BIS), which means that they are not certified to sell any products in India. That is a major red alert which indicates that the company is scam.

Now. if Ringing Bells receives 1 Crore orders for the Freedom 251 then they make 251 Crore Rupees and if it is a scam and none of the buyers get it then it is very likely that many peoples will not even ask for a refund as it is just a matter of Rs. 251.

Even the company’s website is not well maintained as Freedom is taking even half orders as you can see above in the image.
Only time will tell about the truth, the company is a scam? Or they are right, which would be revealed on June 30th, when Ringing Bells will deliver the first batch of the Freedom 251 handsets.

Bookings for the World’s Cheapest smartphone Freedom 251 have been paused due to inescapable demand of the handset. The company’s web servers have been overloaded due to the high demand. Company says that the registration process will resume in 24 hours.

“We have received approx. 6 lacs hits per second as a result of your kind overwhelming response, servers are over loaded.” Read below:

Dear friends we are very grateful for your enormous response and your kind patronage and would submit that as of now we have received approx. 6 lacs hits per second as a result of your kind overwhelming response, servers are over loaded. We humbly submit that we are therefore taking a pause and upgrading the service and will revert within or before 24 hours.
