Google, RailTel launched Free Railwire Wi-Fi at Mumbai Central Station; Allahabad, Jaipur, Patna and Ranchi to follow soon

Google in partnership with RailTel has launched Free RailWire Wi-Fi service at Mumbai Central Station and will be soon  launched in Allahabad, Jaipur, Patna & Ranchi. The Wi-Fi service will be entirely free to start, while there will be some level of free Wi-Fi available, the long term goal will be making this self-sustainable to allow for expansion to more stations and places in India.

Google said that most exciting part of this service is the speed, this public Wi-Fi network is at par with the high speed public Wi-Fi network available in developed countries. The network is built for wide coverage and high capacity usage unlike a typical Wi-Fi hotspot which offers limited area connectivity and poor experience.
Google, RailTel Free Wi-Fi

This project was first announced at Google CEO, Sundar Pichai 's first visit to India when he revealed that the 100 stations will get free Wi-Fi by the end of this year and will expand to 400 stations in future in partnership with RailWire and other partners.

To connect to free Wi-Fi users will need to connect 'RailWire Wi-Fi' network and provide their mobile phone number and then receive an OTP via SMS. The Wi-Fi is free for to be used as much time as one needs,  but to maintain speed users will notice a slight drop in speed.
