After introducing MX4 Ubuntu Edition, Meizu in partnership with Canonical Inc. has launched the Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition globally, ahead of MWC 2016 event. “This is the fifth Ubuntu device launched by Canonical and its partners in the last twelve months and the most sophisticated and feature-rich Ubuntu phone in the market”, Said Canonical.

The Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition will be available for pre-order during MWC on Meizu’s website. It has same set of specifications as the original Meizu PRO 5 except, it only comes in 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant.


The PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition comes powered by Samsung Exynos 7420 Octa-Core processor and sports a 5.7-inch full HD (1920*1080 pixels) resolution AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, runs on Ubuntu OS. There is a 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB internal storage, expandable with microSD. It has Hybrid SIM slots, means second slot can be used either as a microSD slot or SIM card slot. It also has Fingerprint Sensor and is powered by a 3050 mAh battery.

On the camera front, it features a 21.6MP rear camera lens with PDAF, Laser Auto Focus, f/2.2 aperture and dual tone LED Flash. Rear camera can record 4K videos. It has a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Handset thickness is 7.5mm and weight with battery is 166 grams. Connectivity features includes 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFI 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 , USB 3.0 and GPS support. It features USB Type-C port.

The Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition will be showcased at MWC, pricing and roll out details will be  announced at that time.


Xolo has launched Era 4G, latest budget 4G smartphone addition in Company’s Era series. It features a quad core processor, 5MP camera and comes with 4G LTE Support.

It sports a 5-inch (1280*720 pixels) HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by Spreadtrum SC9830A quad core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with Mali 400MP2 GPU, paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage, expandable up to 32GB with microSD.

It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, whenever the update is available. In the photography compartment there is a 5MP rear camera (Auto Focus) with dual LED Flash and a 2MP front-facing camera that also comes with a LED Flash for capturing better images in low-light onditions.

This is a Dual SIM handset with 4G LTE and VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, FM Radio, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS support. Handset weight is 142g and is 8.45mm thick. This dual SIM handset gets power from a 2500 mAh battery.

The Xolo Era 4G comes in Black color and is priced at Rs. 4,777. It will be sold via flash sales, registartions for the sale has already started and it will be exclusively available on Snapdeal.com starting from Feb 26th

Swipe has launched the Konnect 5.1 Limited Edition smartphone with Sandstone Finish in Konnect series in India. It comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display of (854*480 pixels) resolution, runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and has 3G support.

It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB with microSD. As mentioned above, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and is upgradable to Android (Lollipop), has Dual SIM slots and gets power from a 3000 mAh battery that gives up to 15 hours of talk-time on 3G.



On the camera front there is a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 3.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Rear camera can record HD videos at 720p. Handset is 9.8mm thick and weight with battery is 156 grams. Other connectivity features are WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS support.

The Swipe Konnect 5.1 comes in Limited Edition Sandstone finish and is exclusively available from Snapdeal priced at Rs. 3,999.

As promised, Ringing Bells has launched the Freedom 251, World's cheapest smartphone priced at Rs. 251. Freedom 251 packs a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 3.2MP rear camera and 3G Support.

It has a 4-inch qHD IPS Display, there is 3.2- megapixel Auto-Focus rear camera, 0.3-megapixel VGA Fixed Focus front-facing camera and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage that is expandable up to 32GB with microSD card.


Connectivity features are 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS support and gets power from 1450 mAh battery.

The company claims that it has over 650 service-centers across India and the handset comes with 1-year warranty. The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 comes in White color and is priced at Only Rs.251.

We are not sure how the company will sell this handset at this price point, probably they will charge for shipping or they are buying outdated hardware. The smartphone will be officially launched at an event in Delhi later today.


Celkon CT111

Celkon has launched CT111, the company’s latest budget tablet priced at RS. 2999. It  packs a 7-inch (800*480 pixels) WVGA display and is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz.

This is a Wi-Fi enabled tablet and doesn’t comes with SIM slots. There are 2MP rear and front-facing cameras used on the tablet. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with USB OTG (On the Go) Support. Users can use 3G via Dongle, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n is supported. This tablet gets power from a 2500 mAh battery.

No details about internal storage and RAM. The Celkon CT111 is priced at Rs. 2,999 and will be available though offline retail stores and Amazon.in across India.

Xiaomi has reduced the price of Xiaomi Mi4, Mi4i and Redmi Note Prime. Mi4 16GB version is now available for Rs. 12,999, Mi4i for Rs. 9,999 for a limited period and Redmi Note Prime  has got permanent price cut to 500 Rupees and is available for Rs. 7999 from today.

Price cut for Mi4 and Mi4i is temporary as a part of Mi Week Sale on Amazon India and  the offer will last till February 19th.



Xiaomi first started assembling Redmi 2 and later on Redmi Note Prime at its Sri city facility in Andhra Pradesh. Ringing Bells, a Indian Smartphone maker will be launching the cheapest smartphone in India priced under 500 Rupees tomorrow. It will be called Freedom 251, the company has already launched a 4G enabled smartphone dubbed as Smart 101 that is available for purchase with a price tag of Rs. 2999.

This smartphone will be revealed tomorrow by Manohar Parrikar, Union Defense  Minister. Ringing Bells was founded in 2015 and is based in Noida, as mentioned above the company has recently launched cheapest 4G smartphone in India Ringing Bells 101. The company says that “Freedom 251” launch is in line with PM Narendra Modi’s vision for “empowering India to the last person, transforming India’s growth story”.

The company will first begin assembling their handsets in Phase-1 and aims at full indigenous development of the feature-rich smartphones.

The company did not shared any information about manufacturing, products and pricing. India recently became 2nd smartphone market in world leaving behind China.

In last few months the country has seen national and International brands including Xiaomi, Motorola, Micromax, Gionee and other companies  committing assembling of their smartphones in India under the ‘’Make in India’’ initiative




Intex has launched Cloud Crystal 2.5D, latest budget 4G smartphone in Company’s Cloud series. It sports a 5-inch 720p HD 2.5D curved glass display.

It  is powered by 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1GHz with Mali-T720 GPU, paired with 3G RAM and 16GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD. It is a dual SIM handset with 4G LTE and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). 8-megapixel is packed on the rear with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel camera on front. Microsoft has recently launched the Lumia 650 and Lumia 650 Dual SIM smartphones. Both smartphones packs a 5-inch (720*1280 pixels) HD AMOLED display and are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz coupled and runs on Windows 10 Mobile.



It has 1GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage that can be expanded up to 200GB with microSD card. These handsets comes packed with a 8-megapixel AF rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. Both cameras can record HD videos. Dual SIM support is present here (only in Lumia 650 Dual SIM) with other connectivity features includes 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and GPS and a 2000 mAh removable battery packed inside the smartphone.

The Microsoft Lumia 650 and Lumia 650 Dual SIM comes in Matte Black and Matte White colors and will be available in select European markets starting from February 18th priced at $199.

LG has revealed X Cam and X Screen two mid-range smartphones, ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016. These handsets promises great camera and great display experience while packing mid-range specs.




Both smartphones packs 13MP and 5MP dual rear cameras which LG is calling “most advanced camera experience in a mass-tier smartphone". The LG X Cam phone sports a 5.2-inch full HD display, Octa-Core processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 2TB), runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 8MP front-facing camera. The 2520 mAh battery powers the device, handset is 6.9mm thick and weight is 118 grams. Key features are 4G, 3G, WiFi 80.211 b/g/n, GPS and Bluetooth 4.2.



The LG X screen packs a 4.93-inch HD display and a 1.76-inch (520*80 pixels) LCD display, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It also has a 8-megapixel front-facing camera, just like the LG X Cam. The handset weight is 120 grams and thickness is 7.1mm. Key features are 4G LTE/ 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS connectivity support. It gets power from a 2300 mAh battery.


The LG X Cam comes in Gold, Pink Gold, White and Titan Silver colors and the LG X Screen comes in Pink Gold, Black and White colors. These smartphones will be available in select markets like Asia, Latin America and Europe in March 2016. LG will also showcase these handsets at the MWC event in Barcelona.
